One of the most appreciated services provided by the FOP is the Fraternal Order of Police Legal Defense Plan. It was created for law enforcement officers by law enforcement officers and designed to cover the legal exposures faced by FOP members. No other organization offers the level of service and coverage that the FOP provides.

Recognizing law enforcement officers' unique challenges, particularly in high-pressure and potentially dangerous situations, Bobby Lopez identified a crucial need for enhanced legislation and legal defense for these everyday heroes.
In 2011, he created the Silicon Valley Lodge 52 chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police, which we joined as members of the National Fraternal Order of Police. The organization is committed to improving law enforcement's working conditions and pushing legislation that creates safer cities for our communities, instilling hope for a better future.
With a career spanning over 30 years, Bobby Lopez retired as a highly respected San Jose Police Sergeant. His distinguished service was not limited to the San Jose Police Department; he also made significant contributions to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.
Bobby believed we needed to work closely with our citizens and community leaders. He created the “Fallen Officer Memorial Tree” program at Christmas in the Park, where, together with our community, we honor fallen officers and police K-9s nationwide every year.
